Abstract Title: The Role of Biochar in Soil Health and Sustainable Agriculture

Biography:

Dr. Anurita Selvarajoo is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Science and Engineering, University of Nottingham Malaysia. She earned her B.Eng. (Hons) in Civil Engineering (Environmental) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2006 and later obtained her Ph.D. in Fuels and Sustainability from the University of Nottingham Malaysia in 2013.

Dr. Anurita's research focuses on biomass and biomass-derived biochar, with an emphasis on pyrolysis processes and their potential applications in energy, water and wastewater treatment, soil enhancement, remediation, climate change mitigation, and building materials. She is also actively engaged in the study of natural coagulants and flocculants for agricultural wastewater treatment and enhanced landfill mining.

With over 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, online articles, and book chapters, Dr. Anurita is a respected researcher in her field. She serves as a reviewer for various scientific journals and is affiliated with professional organizations, including the Young Scientists Network of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (YSN - ASM), the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM), and the Malaysia Board of Technologies (MBOT).
