Biography:
Dr. Dimitrios Alivertis is an Assistant Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Ioannina. His research focuses on the physicochemical applications of bioactive supramolecular compounds, the therapeutic properties of medicinal plants, and the analysis of environmental samples. With extensive experience in teaching, academic supervision, research, and curriculum development, Dr. Alivertis plays a key role in advancing both scientific knowledge and higher education.
He earned his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry in 2008 (awarded with distinction), an M.Sc. in Chemical and Biochemical Technologies in 2005 (with distinction), and a B.Sc. in Chemistry in 2001 (with merit). He has authored 19 peer-reviewed journal articles and actively contributes to the scientific community as an editorial board member. His previous appointments include positions as a Teaching and Research Fellow and a Quality Control Supervisor, further highlighting his broad expertise in both academic and industrial settings.

Dr. Alivertis’s research focuses on the synthesis and characterization of bioactive supramolecular compounds with potential therapeutic and environmental applications. He is particularly interested in the study of medicinal plants and their bioactive constituents, exploring their pharmacological properties and environmental interactions. His work also encompasses the development of analytical methodologies for the detection and analysis of chemical compounds in complex environmental samples. Dr. Alivertis is committed to interdisciplinary research that bridges organic chemistry, environmental science, and pharmaceutical chemistry to address contemporary scientific and societal challenges.
