Biography:
Professor María Teresa López Arenas received her B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí (1992); her Ms.C. degree in Chemical Engineering from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Iztapalapa Campus (1995); and later her Ph.D in Sciences from the same university (2000), with a specialization in Estimation and Process Control.
She worked at the Polymer Research Center (1997-2000), participating in research projects in the paints and coatings industry. Subsequently, she did postdoctoral stays at the Dipartimento di Ingegneria Chimica e Materiali, Universita' degli Studi de Cagliari, Italy (2001-2002); at the Program of Applied Mathematics and Computing, Mexican Petroleum Institute, Mexico (2002-2003); and at CAPEC - Department of Chemical Engineering, Technical University of Denmark, Denmark (2004-2005).
Since February 2006, she has been a Professor at the UAM Cuajimalpa Campus, joining the Department of Processes and Technology of the Division of Natural Sciences and Engineering and working in the areas of bioprocess engineering systems.
She has recently completed short research stays at the Universidad Católica del Norte, Chile (2013, 2014, 2017, 2019) and a sabbatical stay at the Dept. of Chemical Engineering of the Technical University of Denmark (2014 -2015). Among the awards and distinctions obtained are: recognition as an outstanding professor, awarded by the Universidad de Valle de México (1996); recognition of university merit for doctoral studies, awarded by the Iztapalapa Campus of the UAM (2001); teaching award by the Cuajimalpa Campus (2011). He is a member of the National System of Researchers.
