Abstract Title: Conservation of Endemic, Rare and Endangered Species of Kazakhstan Flora
Biography:
Dr. Veselova Polina, Candidate of Biological Sciences in the specialty 03.00.05 – Botany, has over 33 years of professional experience, primarily at the Institute of Botany and Phytointroduction. She is the author of more than 150 scientific articles, 13 monographs, and 2 copyright certificates, contributing extensively to the advancement of botanical research. Since 2022, she has been serving as the Head of the Laboratory of the Flora of Higher Plants at the Institute.
Throughout her distinguished career, Dr. Veselova has actively participated in the implementation of all major budget programs and numerous research grants of the Institute, often taking on the role of responsible executor over the past decade. Her expertise and dedication have also extended to international collaborations, including the innovative project “Development and Creation of an Exhibition of Plants of Kazakhstan in the Bogatel Botanical Garden (France) as a Prototype for the Introduction of Kazakhstan’s Flora into European Green Construction” (2012–2013).
In 2019, she contributed to the “Pilot Project on the Formation of an Electronic Database of Herbarium (AA)” in Greifswald, Germany. Most recently, she was the responsible executor of an international project in partnership with Changwon National University (South Korea), implemented under the “Flora of Tien Shan Program: The Green Way of Central Asia” (2015–2023).
Through her leadership and scientific contributions, Dr. Veselova has significantly advanced the study and promotion of Kazakhstan’s botanical diversity on both national and international platforms.
Research Interest:
Dr. Veselova Polina’s research interests lie in the study of the flora and biodiversity of higher plants, with a particular focus on Kazakhstan’s unique botanical resources. She is deeply engaged in the taxonomy, systematics and conservation of native plant species, as well as their potential application in green construction and sustainable development. Her work also explores the digitization of herbarium collections, the development of electronic plant databases and the integration of Central Asian flora into international scientific and ecological frameworks. Additionally, she is passionate about fostering international collaborations to enhance the preservation, documentation, and utilization of plant diversity in global biodiversity initiatives.
